FONDA FIRE DEPARTMENT NEEDS YOU
COME JOIN THE EXCITEMENT! The Fonda Fire Department is recruiting for new members. Our department is alive and full of excitement. Friendships are being formed and new adventures are happening every day. However, we still need you!
We take pride in the wide range of people who volunteer. The department includes men and women with educations from high school to graduate school, twenty year olds to persons in their sixty's, and day shift workers and night shift workers. Members can have young children while others are just retiring. Members can work in various careers as truck and bus drivers, attorneys, college professors, plumbers, nurses, physicians, corrections officers, computer engineers, store clerks etc. Many of the members had no experience in a fire department before joining, but are now well-trained professionals that respond to our community's emergencies.
Volunteering for a fire department is a serious time commitment, but you can fit it into your schedule. We have one membership meeting each month on the first Tuesday 7PM and training/drills all other Tuesday nights at 7PM., but hours are flexible! Firefighter and fire apparatus driver roles have no designated shifts, but we do monitor your level of activity. Some of our members respond only during the day while most respond at night or early morning. We do not have any preference to the times you are available.
There is no cost to you for volunteering. We provide uniforms, pagers, and all the equipment necessary for your position. Benefits include annual banquets, various social events. The biggest benefit will be your personal satisfaction and helping you community.
Applications can be obtained on this site, at the Village office or by contacting Chief Donald Wagoner at 848-7765 or dwagoner@nycap.rr.com
